A lumber company employee is accused of shooting and killing three people and injuring a fourth Friday in a workplace dispute in Star, North Carolina, a local law enforcement officer said.
Afterward, the man reportedly returned home where he shot and injured himself.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department identified the gunman as Ronald Dean Davis, 50.
He allegedly entered the ware-house area of McBride Lumber Co. shortly after 6 a.m. and began shooting with a 12-gauge shotgun, said Sheriff Dempsey Owens of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
The injured worker at the ware-house was airlifted to a hospital at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Davis, who sheriff's deputies found slumped on his couch at his home with a gunshot wound to the head, was transported to the same hospital.
Both are in critical condition.
Davis reportedly left a rambling six-page note but sheriff's deputies did not give details about what it said. Owens said Davis might have been harassed at work.
He declined to identify the victims other than to say all of them were males.
The McBride Lumber Co., a family-owned business, manufactures pal-lets and treated wood for furniture and other products.
