An 18-year-old construction worker from North Carolina has died in an accident in South Carolina.
York County officials say Maynro Perez of Charlotte died from injuries he suffered in an accident involving a back hoe Saturday.
Officials say Perez was working for Kemp Construction at the future Giordana Velodrome in Rock Hill. The 250-meter track with 40-degree embankments will host the 2012 and 2013 USA Cycling International Omnium Track National Championship. An omnium is a series of races for individuals and teams and is the newest addition to the Olympic Games.
Coroner Sabrina Gast says Perez was taken to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill late Saturday morning where he was pronounced dead.
